Inspired by an early self-portrait of the artist, “Flutterina” is a heavily detailed & styled piece. Drawing influences from real-life aspects (as well as those from fairytales) the piece features clothing and jewelry the artist owns or has made.
The overall theme of this piece centers around the artist’s favorite animal: the butterfly. The artist takes into account the idea of a butterfly’s maturation: going from a caterpillar shedding its cocoon to blossoming into a free-to-fly butterfly. Flutterina is the portrayal of whom the artist is on the inside, brought to life for spectators to see on the outside.
"Flutterina" is part of a larger series of work to be displayed in a solo-exhibition titled My Own Muse.
Exhibited in the Illinois State Fair Art Gallery for the Amateur Art Show.
